    thanks for the response.

but can someone confirm that heavy cream fat is an MCT before i go out and get fat as hell on this stuff. I plan on putting it in my nighttime shake instead of milk.

I have heard that heavy cream IS a from of MCT, although I have never used it for that reason myself.

The literature suggest that n=8 fatty acids, and to a lesser extent, n=10, are responsible for the positive effects of MCT's.

Coconut oil is mostly n=10 and n=12 fatty acids.

Here is a brief summary of MCT studies (number are PubMed numbers):

Medium Chain TG 1.5g (octanoate/8:0 greatly preferred)
„« Increases lipogenesis and raises TG in plasma [7562078]
„« Nonetheless, suppresses bodyfat accumulation, with as little as 1.7g/day [11694608, 12810404, 7072620]
    „« Lowers cholesterol [12810404]
    „« Increased oxidation/energy expenditure [7072620, 12532160]
„« Oxidation not inhibited in obese [9537605]
