OMG I thought I was the only person here who loved them. Growing up down south sure killed me. I ate those things every day. Then all these health concious people up north twisted my mind. Last summer I went on vacation to alabama and ate breakfast at a Huddle House EVERY day. I was in heaven. I can't wait to go back down there for some real cookin ----YEY WEEK CHEAT! lol

hey JODI don't talk about grits like that. Does anybody know what exactley you get from grits, ie carbs, protein etc.
Damn i never tried grits in my life and i dont think im gonna based on this thread. The last thing I need is yet another High GI food that I cant stop eating.
My mom used to make grits, then put them in a bread pan and throw it in the icebox. Next morning she would slice the grits and fry them with our eggs in bacon grease.Good stuff.
Sometimes we'd have em with pork chops and turnip greens.
Southern food is good, and ocassionally, I'll cheat and eat it, but not something you'd want to eat everyday. (Well......chicken fried steak comes to mind.......)
I haven't had any in a while but I have a strange feeling that I will have some when I get home tonight.
I wonder if they'll taste the same with splenda instead of sugar?

I eat grits every now and then... prefer oatmeal and cream of wheat. They are high GI huh? Oh well![]()

cream of wheat is good too....
