    NHE diet

    Is it possible to put on lean mass with little fat gain with this diet?
    I am in the metabolic shift point and I am feeling great more energy and no cravings
    but the book doesnt state any cal requirements so I dont know what to base my intake on.

    Im still waiting to get the book in the mail to read. a friend was sending it to me. so I dont know much about the specifics.
    however, it MAY be possible to add lean mass with that diet, seeing how with the refeeds you are creating an anabolic period. if this was timed right. say after training, then I would think quite possibly yes.

    Thanks, I just got the book and there is a ton of info there a great read but he doesnt use cal intake. just eat as much fat inbetween the carb loads as you want. but wouldnt an excess of fat turn to fat?

    Its very similar to a Beverly nutrition type diet or a CKD. Very difficult to gain any significant LBM on. The carb ups are only every 3-4 days and they are only for 1 meal. It is a cutting diet with very minimal carbs. Again, very slow approach to gaining LBM.

    Actually, there are TWO diet plans in that book. The regular one, and a body builders.

    Either way, I agree with Jodi that it's not really ideal for bulking.

    It is however, a very well researched book, but for me it wasn't an easy read.
