I've just printed the "Bulking with Slow Burners" diet by Dr. Pain. I'm seriously considering this diet, as it claims to do exactly what I'm looking to do. I'm 187 lean lbs, and happy with the way I look---but I def wanna bulk up, but DON'T wanna get fat in the process, as i've watched many of my friends do. Can anyone give me some positive feedback on this particular diet? Does it work? Are there other suggestions? I'd like to be at least 195lbs come summer. Thanks in advance.
Try it. It should work. Looks similar to my diet, although I eat more. You need to eat to grow, and eating natural foods and not simple sugar and processed carbs is a the way to go.
Ah who cares about getting fatter...just cut afterwards....if you're not gaining, eat more, abs be damned, just make sure all your food is clean as hell you'll keep fat gain at a minimum...you have to accept the fact that your body fat will go up in a way that you won't like in any bulk phase, but if you diet and cut properly, it'll all be worth it.
yeah, maybe you're right--it's just hard to accept that you go from looking one way, to looking another... I was hoping to be able to keep my body fat fluctuations to a minimum, but if getting a little fat is going to let me get the results that I really want, then I suppose you're right---body fat be damned....thanx.
dude you need to move away from that mentality. I see where you're coming from, I started my bulk at 4% and a photo shoot. It got tough for me to accept the fact that I would lose all my striations and vascularity by embarking on a bulk, but when you start packing on the pounds and your lifts start going up with your calories, it'll be worth it.
It's amazing how much food your body can handle and assimilate to muscle mass if you're training hard and smart, my carb-phobia has done a complete 180, I down 2/3 cups of brown rice (measured before cooking) in one sitting now with negligible gains in fat mass, bulks are great.
Basically what I'm saying is EAT, EAT and EAT. If you're not gaining, eat more. Just ALWAYS make sure you're disciplined enough to eat clean all year round and that you're eating quality calories. Another effective tool is never combining fats and carbs in the same meal, and orienting your carb intake around your workout. These two practices will help you pack on mass with minimal fat gain. Good luck!

Peace.
I agree, I think most people fall short and shoot them self on the foot because they are scared of getting "fat". If you really want to play it conservative then bulk for a few weeks, gain a few pounds and then cut for like two weeks. I think it is better to just go for it though. EAT, EAT, EAT. If you feel you are getting to sloppy then add some cardio or tighten up on your diet until you get under control and then keep going. Don't hold yourself back.
Well I am dieting for a show right now. I started my diet at 3800cals per day and am now at 3200cals per day with two refeeds per week. I am really hangry. I am around 190lbs right now. Offseason I bounce around at around 200lbs and I can easily eat about 4200cals jsut to maintain. So when I bulk I really have to eat.....up around 5000cals or more per day.
