    Food Cravings while Sleeping

I’ve been actively weight training for awhile now and consciously eat a rather healthy diet. One of my biggest concerns that has bothered me for the longest time is that I can’t get a full nights sleep without waking up either once or twice in the evening and craving some food! For the most part before I go to bed I have a protein shake but within two hours of rest I’m craving food yet again! To top it off the food I crave most are sugars or sweets and it is hard to fight the urge. First of all is this a major problem or just a side effect of being active or not dieting properly. I was wondering if anybody could give me some insight on this whole situation or any advice! Thanks guys for your time!!!

have been fighting the same problem for a couple of months now. I have been tring many different diets to try to solve this problem. I think that it might be leptin related because the only time i got a good sound sleep was after a refeed. I am currently on the NHE diet 3days adkins style refeed last two meals on 4th day then 4 days adkins refeed again, I havent had so much cravings. and when I wake up with them i will have celery with low carb soynut butter and back to sleep.
I wish I could help more but I am still tring to figure it out myself

I think that overtraining might be a likely cause to me being so damn hungry. I train in the evening and eat a rather large meal, study a bit have a protein shake and hit the bed. I still think within that time frame my body is still trying to recover from a tough workout and still needs to be fueled. The only thing that really bothers me about it is that of all the foods I crave it is normally junk food! It is killer to my diet and I'm trying to find some alternatives to 1) help me get a full nights sleep and 2) if I'm going to wake up at least make sure I eat something beneficial to myself!
As far as switching my diet plan to Atkins I'm rather hesitant on that since my overall goal is to gain weight. Plus I'm rather lean and I train pretty hard so I'm pretty sure I need the carbs!
    Thanks for your insight!!!
