JUNK. mars bars are high in fat(terrible post workout) and lacking in any nutrients!
I was just wondering on what anyone thought about using chocolate for a post w/o insulin spike. I take in 50gs of whey stacked with BCAAs as well as 1 cup of oats and wouldnt mind adding in half a Mars bar or something. I guess Im asking because of my dark master.. the cocoa bean.

What dose an insulin spike do for you. Whats the bennifit.
He who speaks least, think's most.
When Combined with Creatine and Dextrose and ALA, they will all serve as a transporter of proteins to damaged tissues(muscles) causing anabolism post workout.

Actually you can use candies as an insulin spike, as long as
a) they are fat-free
b) the sugar they use is not fructose, ideally you want glucose or dextrose.
The best candy to use for this is Smarties (not the chocolate ones, the juicy dextrose-based ones)
Perosnally I never use insulin spikes, though, I use oats.
Peace.

Same here, I prefer oats or another slow burning carb as well.Originally posted by Premo55

My boyfriend is using an insulin spike (pure ecto) though and I have him eating Smarties, SweetTarts, Shockers, Spree's, Pixi StiksYup, he prefers to eat his PWO spike.
I will gain fat on a PWO spike so that's why I stick with oats.

is it kosher to eat the oats as oatmeal and not have it ground up and thrown in the shake, i just prefer eating it, and how much oatmeal do you usually go with, i probably have about 1.5 scoops of whey and 1 cup(dry measure) of oatmeal with a banana post workout, so far it has been working pretty good considering i'm up about 15 lbs in 2+ months
