Egg Whites

i am looking at supplementing by diet with egg whites mixed in with my protein shakes aswell as milk to increase the protein per serving..the question is, is it possible to prepare egg whites i.e seperate them from the yolk a few days in advance and keep them refrigerated? i dnt fancy having to seperate 5 or so eggs every time i want to use em!

also does anyone know if you can buy em already seperated in the uk?

any advice/comments welcome

Im not sure in the UK but look for pasturized carton egg whites. this will save seperating them and having to mix in advance and also cut back on your chances of salmonella.

Yes you can seperate them and keep them refrigerated in a sealed container. I don't know about the pre-seperated eggs in the UK though sorry.

Quick question. Do hard boiled egg have the same nutritional contents? My mind says yes, but I'm not sure. It sure would help if to be able to carry some HB eggs with me instead of having to prepare eggs at work for my am meal.

Platman yes they are equal, to a certain extent. Once you cook any source of protein you loose protein depending on how much you cook it, thats why many people eat thier beef and such rare.

5'9" I am not 100% sure on how long you can store them seperated but I would say a week or so. If I were you though I would just seperate maybe 3 days worth then store it like that. To make sure you don't get sick. believe me sometimes its better to just take the time every day to seperate them rather then getting sick, food poisoning is no joke.
