I had a beer last night.
I'm cutting (6 weeks now. I'm at 9% bf). I broke down. Do you all think that 1 beer is about as bad as a slice of pizza. What are the long term ramifications of this breakdown?
Also, I saw spring breakers with great abs/cut drinking pitchers of beer for 7 days, and they left looking cut... (bad food too and no working out!). How? |

Alcohol is more than simply a bad source of empty calories....those are easily burned off in an active individual, especially if they have a good metabolism.
as i think jodi was alluding to, the alcohol actually has a hormonal impact that can lower test levels and turn off fat metabolism for a while.....prolonged drinking may lead to a constant elevation of cortisol and a depression of test...add to that the calories of alcohol and you see why men get the beer gut. drinking on spring break in the sun for a week isnt a big deal...you have to have some fun...the truth is that between the sun and the extreme dehydrating diuretic effect alcohol has on the body, abs may look even better a few hours into drinking...it inhibits ADH which makes you actually pee out more fluid than you take in. do it for too long though and like i said before it will catch up to you. but you and your one beer....dont give it a second thought....enjoy.
My opinions may have changed, but not the fact that I am right.

If I'm having a beer, it's going to be Guinness.
