How much protein?
Hi all,
I've been on gopro's system for about half of the cycle and I was wondering how much protein should I be taking in. In terms of protein, I talking about the whey powder. Normally since I do a 3-day split, I tkae 1 serving right after the workout. Is this too little? I'm trying to build mass wonder what's the best dosage. I'm 5'10"" and ~215lbs. Should I be taking the whey twice a day that I work out? If so when are the best times besides afte rthe workout? Can I replace a breakfast with the shake? Should I be taking it on off days that I do not workout or just do cardio? It's 22g of protein per serving. If anyone can help me out that would be great. Thanks in advance. |

its soo hard to get that much protein. i barely get 140grams (my weight in lbs). are you sure you need that much? if so then i might have to start taking 3 whey shakes a day. i eat either chicken or steak every night, but i have no idea how much protein is in those.

SkinnyKid-- Go to www.fitday.com and check out how much protein is in steak and chicken. Also a bunch of protein shakes are NOT the answer. You need a balanced diet. Try and eat some tuna, or any other meat during the day. Not just at dinner. I suggest reading the stickies in the diet forum, then ask questions from there.

make sure your diet doesnt consist of solely protien tho, u still need veggies and fats. 4 oz of chicken is 20-some-odd grams of protein, when i was bulking for a while i was hitting 300 grams a day no problem, milk is my favorite source, its like natures candy to me :S (btw i took about 80 grams a day by way of supplements)

Of course i meant with a balanced diet, but specifically for like protein shakes. Like how much do you guys do a day? I only do 3 a week after my 3day split. I think I need to kick it up, but how much and like the frequency. Should I be takign them during my off days too or just the days I lift? Basically, I just want to get an idea from those who are trying to gain mass to see what their dosage are and the pros/cons of it.

depends on your protein intake, I have 2-3 per day, with meal 1, post work-out and meal 7.
I find it hard to get enough protein thru food alone, so I supplement with whey protein. BOARD SPONSORS: ![]()

Prince,
Can I skip breakfast and get a protein drink? So basically 2-3 on top of other meals is good? How about 2-3 for each of the 3days i workout? |

I would not recommend that, I believe in carbs and protein meal 1, very important IMO.
I have 1 cup oats, or Empower cereal, and a whey protein shake for breakfast (both with a cup of 1% milk) BOARD SPONSORS: ![]()
