    Bootled vs Tap water

Are we in agreement that bottled water is a con?

I think I will get used to the taste of tap water as opposed to bottled, but what is the effect of drinking 4 litres of chlorine-treated water per day?

Tap water contains small amounts of led, chlorine and other substances that give it an awkward taste. Spring water here is like $1.20 a gallon. I usually buy 3 every other day. In my opinion it tastes better

I got tired of buying bottled water so I just got a PUR water pitcher instead. Tap water tastes like bottled after it goes through the PUR filter.
Water quality varies a lot from state to state. When I lived in Las Vegas, I wouldn't drink tap water to save my life. It tased horrible there.
To get back to DannyT's statement, it's not a con, just ask anyone who has had to drink Las Vegas tap water

Ugh, I cannot stand tap water! Sometimes I've had water that tasted like the toilet...not that I would know what toilet water tastes like!!!

Bottled water is for me! I can get 32 bottles of Ice Mountain from Sam's Club for a lil over $5.

I dont like the taste of the tap water here in western MA. I tried one of those filters, and there was still a bit of an aftertaste.

I just buy cases of poland spring at the local bulk supply store. 40 gallons lasts me a couple weeks.

well, you Americans live in one of the dirtiest, most polluting countries in the world. No wonder your water is shit.

yeah, thats been known for a while actually. in fact a lot of these new bottled waters are just filtered tap. theres only a few that are actual spring water.

Hey, we do what it takes to maintain Pax Americana. If we mess up our own water, there's plenty of countries we can invade to steal their water.

I don't like the plastic taste of bottled water, if they came in glass bottles I would consider it. An article I read recently linked the leached plastic that makes it taste that way to raising estrogen levels. How much plastic did you drink today? I'll stick to filtering my tap water.

No wonder I like our water (just found this on our Board of Water Supply website)

As rain water percolates slowly down through the mountains toward the basal aquifers, it is purified naturally by the volcanic rock. By the time it gets underground, our water is clean enough and safe enough to drink – it doesn't need to be treated with chemicals to make it safe to drink. For the most part, our island tap water is sweet and pleasant to the taste; and its quality – generally speaking – is considered one of the best in the world.

I worked at a bottled water plant when I was in college. I've known for years that most bottled water is just filtered water.

Spring water must come from a spring though, otherwise it cannot be labled as such.

Bottled water in London (UK) (where I live) is expensive, the cheapest you can possibly get is the equivalent of $1 for 2 litres of water. So if I wanted 4 litres a day of bottled water I would have to spend about $14 (£7) a week on water alone.

Tap water varies all over the world. In alot of European countries it's undrinkable. In the UK it's supposed to be safe. Yet it has a strong taste of chlorine.

I just wanted to know whether 28 litres a week of chlorine infected water might cause a long term health problem to me.

American water for the toilet isn't blue. That's only if you have a cleaner in it.

..and my well water isn't polluted, it just has a lot of iron and I don't like the taste of it. I can taste the difference between filtered tap water and spring water. Thats why I never liked Dasani.

We get Deer park water delivered to the house and use a water cooler because we go through so much of it.
