HOw much can this freak of nature eat?!! Waking up that many times during the course of the night must not be very good for him. I wonder if he has sleep apnea.

Add up all the sleep hours together, it goes up till early in the morning, unless he's eating every hour. That would just be insane.

during night meals are really helpful though, b/c after 4-5 hrs of fasting you're body is likely to be burning muscle.

still, more than 1 of these meals is definitly excessive, I mean... why not just hook yourself up to an I.V. ???

I've done 66, it wasn't pleasant. Jay has been to 18 meals a day before.

I dont see how he stays sane with that sleep routine, it would drive me bonkers. He must have some freaky genes to get in his REM that way.

When sleep deprived your body enters REM sleep faster because your body adjusts its sleep cycles to match your length of sleep

Did you read the quote above? He is an idiot because of his diet , not because of his thought patterns. So are you saying that you think a lot of pro athaletes are idiots because of their diets? Or because their just idiots?

I think what he and I are both saying is that yes, the mindset and dedication is both admirable and great, but to do that to yourself day in day out for years at a time is idiotic, and leads to no-life syndrome. But if that is your thing, then go for it I guess.

BTW, I don't believe they are idiots because to have that kind of dedication takes education, but the diet itself is stupid.

The problem is the length of each cycle. Although a you enter REM sleep the same amount of times as a person who sleeps eight hours the length is much short in people who are sleep deprived. There once was a study where they had this painter instead of sleeping 8 hours every night they made him take around 6 naps a day equaling eight hours. After the three months they found that the naps didnt effect his iq or anything of that nature. Although this doesnt acount for him retaining muscle. I dont know when your GH oand other hormones are released at what stage of sleep but I imagine it would greatly lower your GH if you only napped and never slept.
