I would limit my bread to no more than 3-4 slices daily. My personal opinion.
I just realized how much bread i eat everyday, and i'm not sure if its a good source of carbs....
The bread is non-white. It's either wheat or oatnut or some other "funky" kind.
I eat 2 slices for my eggs sandwich in the morning, 2 slices for my tuna sandwich at lunch, 2 slices if i have hamburgers for dinner, and 2 slices for a pb&j at night. thats up to 8 slices of bread somedays.
Anyone? thanks guys

No bread is not a good source of carbs. Once a day, even bulking, is plenty IMO!

Well if it works for you, I don't see what's wrong with it. I seem to remember that you have a ridiculous metabolsim. Personally I would get chubby as hell even eating two slices a day.
Peace.

You've never heard of Bunny Bread? Oh my God! Perhaps it's just a Louisiana or southern made bread. Not sure, but it's proably the softest, tastiest white bread you ever wan't to eat. In matter of fact, its so fresh and soft that it sticks to the roof of your mouth. Perfect for PB and J sandwiches!! Yummy Yummy!
damn sounds good, what i really like is this place called dudleys bakeery down here in the hills, they got this apple danish bread, what i love to do is throw some peanut butter on it, sprinkle some cinnamon on it and slice some bananas, throw it the micro for about 13.5 seconds till the pb and bread get gooeeey, and there you have the perfect carbo/fat no protein meal

How about those lo carb tortillas.they have like 7 grams of fiber....are those okay to eat?
they sound fiberriffic, the pitas that i go for have 20 grams of carbs, no added sugar, 4 grams of fiber, the way i look at it i usually eat 1 or none a day so 16 grams of carbs from the pitas wont kill me, but some other breads can be very heavy and calorie dense, i just never have enough dough to fork over for the low carb tortillas, are they pretty tasty, what flavors are good?

I am eating about 6 slices of super-dark whole wheat bread per day. I eat one slice with a full can of tuna to get my carbo mix with my protein.Originally posted by Jodi

What alternative should I use instead of this dark whole wheat bread?
I thought since they are complex carbos they are good to eat with the Tuna.

Even whole wheat bread usually contains some corn syrup and oils. Not necessary bad, but I would cut back to only two slices a day. Brown rice and oatmeal are good examples of complex carbs.
A good rule of thumb (one I don't always follow myself) is grains in the AM, legumes mid day and fibrous green vegetables at night.

i usually have one to two pieces of 100% ww bread a day
Denise has me hooked on these... nutritionally they are quite good... 14g fiber and only 5g carbs in the full burrito size... and the taste is FANTASTIC... has to be one of the best bread replacements out there...Originally posted by aggies1ut

You know, I really feel it depends on the type of bread.
The kind I eat is 100% organic, and get this - it isn't made with flour. It's made from "sprouted grains", or grains that are left in water to sprout, and are then baked.
Each slice (depending on the kind) has 4 to 6 grams of fibre, and 5 to 6 grams of protein, and about 12 to 14 net carbs, which come from natural grains, and not flour.
I eat six pieces per day at least, and sometimes even more. It's really no different than eating oats, and tastes a helluva lot better.
I doubt anyone's interested, but if you are, you should check it out. I had never seen bread like this until I found it last year, and thankfully it's local
