I just mix mine with some splenda when I have grits. Haven't had them in awhile, but when not dieting....sugar and butter mixed together. So Bad!!
does anybody have any good grits recipes that doesn't involve excessive amounts of cheese or have a cheesy taste, not to big on the stuff am I, also would it be good to have it post workout cause that is when i would be most using it, high gi?

Yeah, just splenda and cinnamon for me...I love me some grits. I made a grits appreciation thread a while back, but unfortunately thanks to the GI it's not the ideal food to be eating regularly, I guess you could use it as a PWO source.

UGH sweet grits?
In the south we do them with butter pepper and salt
^ I know this, but that's not exactly the most healthy option. If I had my way I'd have butter, cheese, shrimp and salt with a side of gumbo or jambalaya and some blackened catfish.
Peace.

Due to reducing starch in my diet I rarely eat them anymore but use to love them when I was younger. I use to just put a little bacon in it for flavor and then salt & pepper and a small dab of butter. There are various casseroles one can also make but these usually involve cheese but can be quite excellent and well received at formal dinner parties and brunches. There are also a couple of different varieties of grits - yellow and white. I believe the all come from generally the same processed corn hominy and only vary in coarseness, granule size and corn flavor.

yeah i was thinking of something, like some cayenne, chili powder diced lean ham, with two eggs over easy on top, gives me my needed macros for a good breakfast item

But that is of course when i very rarely eat them which is once in like several months due to the fact its higher GI[i][b]^ I know this, but that's not exactly the most healthy option. If I had my way I'd have butter, cheese, shrimp and salt with a side of gumbo or jambalaya and some blackened catfish.
