how about just focusing on cleaning up your diet first and making gradual decreases in total calories. IE, approx 250cals from maintaince (3000cals?). Concentrate on low GI complex carbs, lots of fiberous veggies, adequate lean protein and EFA's.
Id suggest using www.fitday.com and keeping track of things daily to ensure you meet your needs. or also start a journal here
" To dream anything you want to dream: That is the beauty of the human mind. To do anything you want to do: That is the strength of the human will. To trust yourself to test your limits: that is the courage to succeed."

im gonna start dieting, dropping my cals from 3000 per day to 2750. i will use a ratio of 50% protein, 25% carbs, 25% fat. i will eat clean ,except for saturday(personal favourite day) where i will eat more or cheat on a meal . i will do cardio 3 times per week first thing in the morning , and i weight train 3 times a week.

I'd advise you to that for say 3-4 weeks, then evaluate. The reason there are so many different opinions out there about cutting is that everyone reacts a little differently, and what's more, as you drop bodyfat, your reactions may alter.

one must first learn how to eat healthly and to devise a healthy "diet" before you can cut...
I train differently than most, my beef is with gravity the weights on the bar are just the medium...Thanks to Wall Street your slice of the American Pie has been reduced to a crumb.

it usually takes about 7-10 days for the body to get adjusted to a new diet or eating plan. but after 3-4 works you will surely have much higher energy levels and should really start to see some weight loss...

1-2 lbs a week is what you want to shot for. typcially the faster weight loss occurs the more LBM you will lose...
