i don't love w.o. on an empty stomach, but i HATE w.o. when my stomach feels the least bit full. i don't eat for a few hours before a w.o., unless its just something real light/small.

I don't think I'd make it past the first exercise.

OK I must admit that lately I do it all the time. Normally I usually try to take in at least a slice of whole wheat toast and a cup of cottage cheese to get bootstrapped in the morning but lately I have been resorting to some old fat loss tactics of not eating prior to morning workout. Actually I am finding fell great when I do this and seem very light on my feet and am able to hit cardio at 110% theoretical heart rate with out even getting winded. Then I do the weight training right behind it. I know totally unorthodox but it it feels fine.

I will admit though that right now this is mostly cuz im too lazy to go to the store and buy some supplies ...

guess it depends how you define "empty". i like to train about an hour and a half after a meal. longer than that and i'd dread every rep of every set of every exercise.

i swear working out on an empty stomach is the worse thing possible (unless it's cardio and even that makes me feel sick)

if i don't eat something before i train my energy levels are so low and i feel so crappy that i might as well not even be there...

I love training on an empty stomach, but I also enjoy it with a meal about 1.5hours before lifting as well, and sooner then that and it feels like rocks in my stomach ansd I can't do anything!

Negative, if I wake up in the morning and hit the weights I have more intensity then if I were to stop and eat a meal first then go.

I never said I did it b/c it was better. The original question was can yo do it and I said yes I can and I have more intensity while doing it. Do I do it anymore, no. Before you just assuming us "kids" don't know any better you should find out the facts first don't ya think? I use to choose to lift on an empty stomach b/c I had better lifts but it was detrimental to my body after going like 12 hours without food. I did it when I was having a series of shitty lifts to boost my confidence etc..

I have tried working out the first thing in the morning before. I actually did it twice, The first time I ingested hydroxycut and I managed to finish my work out and I was able to lift more. The other time I tried to, I just wanted to see what would happen, Its not a very nice experience, I had to cut all my sets short because I didn't have the energy to move on. I guess working out on an empty stomach will benefit those who are cutting.

there is absolutely zero benifit to weight training on an emtpy stomach first thing in the morning. Your glycogen stores are slightly depleted from the nightly fast, your body has a negative protein balance and serum cortisol is elevated.

resistance training is catabolic, when you combine the 2 it's a sure fire way to lose some major LBM...
