    yams (ubi)

In my efforts to lose fat (i.e. potbelly) I restrict my intake of carbos. As I live in a country where rice is the staple I limit myself to 2 cups of boiled rice (which I might replace with unfined rice).

I was wondering if it might be better to replace my rice (and potatoes )with yams
(sweet potato?) as I have heard they are lower on the GI table.
although the name 'sweet potato' seems to imply a lot of sugar.

How many sweet potatoes can I include in my diet plan?

Does sweet potato = yam ('ubi' in Malay)

IMO it is superior to rice.. what kind of rice? brown, wild?
a sweet potato does have a low GI, its full of fiber, antioxidants, VITAMINS.. and tastes 1000000000X better than rice! in my opinon. so yes this is fine to substitute for the rice!

the only thing about sweet potatoes for me is that it is more calorie dense then rice, they sure are good though
