Question Cream of Wheat for Breakfast

Today I had Cream of Wheat instead of my usual oatmeal. I normally have oatmeal for my first meal of the day with 1-1/2 scoops of whey powder mixed in. My second meal is mini wheats with protien drink in place of milk in the cereal and a piece of fruit.

The question - I figure oatmeal is better than cream of wheat, but how bad is cream of wheat? Also, the mini-wheats, are they that bad (they are not frosted or anything, just plain)?

    Thx, Phred

Cream of Regular Wheat is pretty processed, so I imagine the GI is high, and it would lack fibre and things. I find even the "whole wheat farina" (cream of whole wheat, but did you know that Cream of Wheat is a trademark?) doesn't really "stick with me" for some reason. Thus I don't usually bother with it, since I'll be starving again half an hour later.

As for the mini-wheats, are they the things like petite Shredded Wheat biscuits? Nothing but whole wheat and a touch of preservative perhaps? Don't see any reason why there'd be anything wrong with that, if you like it. (Unless you happen to have wheat sensitivities of course.)

I had not thought about the cream of wheat "sticking" for 3 hours. Not hungry yet (been only 2 hours), but now that I think about it, maybe I am getting a little hungry.

The mini wheat is the shredded wheat with not added sugars or processing. I have had oatmeal as the first meal for almost 4 months now, with only a few exceptions. I just did not feel like oatmeal this morning and wanted a change. I eat cottage cheese as meal 4 or 5 and did not feel like that either. I found the cream of wheat in the cupboard and went for it. Thanks for the input.

i like to eat cream of wheat post workout cause of the higher gi, plus it is lower in fat and fiber. I make it with cocoa powder the night before. put it in the fridge, and the next day i heat it up and slice a banana and eat it on top pwo. Let me tell you when you eat food this good who needs a "cheat"

I live near Elk Grove, on the north east side. My outlaws live in Folsom, not to far from El Dorado Hills.
