Which is better during the night?

Sorry if this has been covered, i'm sure it has somewhere.

At night which do you think would be better:

Option 1: Sleeping for 8 straight hours, waking up, eating or

Option 2: Sleeping 4 hours, eating, sleeping 4 more hours, then eating again?

    Would it depend on goal?

    blood stream.

the only time i will "eat" something is if i have to wake up to go to the bathroom, in which case i will gingerly stroll to the fridge and guzzle some milk from the carton, but that is the only time i would do so

Well, it depends on you I say. If you can wake up, eat something, and fall back to sleep easily, then do it, but if you get restless, then don't do it.
Never say you can't do something.

Option 1: Sleeping for 8 straight hours, waking up, eating. Don’t take time from your sleep for anything. Eat before and after your sleep, not halfway. If you wake up because you have to go to the bathroom then that something else, in that situation I would get something to eat. But waking up in the middle of the night just because you want to eat it’s a no no.

It is a terrible idea to wake yourself up just to eat. I believe there are 5 stages of sleep, each one lasting around 90 minutes. The most crucial one for growth is Stage 4. This would require at least 6 hours of sleep.

I like to take VPX Micellean protein just before bed.... it is labeled as "7-hour sustained dispersion", though who really knows the validity of this statement. It's probably best to eat some sort of real food protein and efa's before bed to feed your body throughout the night.

I originally thought that it was indeed best to sleep without interruption for the entire night and also thought that if you did wake up because of bathroom reasons that it wouldn't hurt to get some food. I often sleep soundly 8 straight hours without bathroom though, so I was just making sure.

Im not so much concerned with getting up to go to the washroom, as it is to eat.. I think that this knocks of natural GH levels by interfering with digestion. I could be wrong. Ill see what I can find.

I can't even imagine waking myself up to eat. As long as you eat something before going to bed, you should be fine. Getting enough sleep is very important, and I personally would have a tough time falling back asleep if I woke myself up long enough to prepare food and eat it.

If you happen to wake up in the middle of the night, eat something. Or even take something like leptigen. I wouldnt set my alarm, though.

actually a small period of catabolic activity during the night is good. it allows gh and cortisol to do a decent amount of fat burning.

I definetly would set the alarm to wake but if it happens dowing some whey & water wouldn't be a bad idea...
