I am TOTAL ANTI BAR!!!
once in a blue moon is fine if an absolutle must. otherwise, have the shake and a peice of fruit or some EFA's.
or just pack a cooked meal.
Hello everyone...
I have a very healthy lifestyle, I eat right, work out 5 xs a week, balance between weight training & cardio. During the week it is very comfortable to pack a protein bar (Carbwise) than a shake to have before my workout, after work. It is causing a little concern due to that it has 9-10 gm of fat. Ho wdo u rate? Should I stick w/ the shake?
Thanks,
Mars

I train differently than most, my beef is with gravity the weights on the bar are just the medium...Thanks to Wall Street your slice of the American Pie has been reduced to a crumb.
Why not try to make your own bars ? There is a recipe somewhere around here..
Personally, I found bars to not help with fat loss. IMO, if your just trying to remain healthy and maintain weight then I see no problem with them but during a cut I would NEVER eat them.

bars should only be a last resort. i have one every day because i'm usually rushing out the door, or just need to trick my brain into thinking i'm eating solid food when the idea of another shake is unbearable. if you have the option though, go for the shake. otherwise your getting a lot of unwanted fat and carbs, and you pretty much have to assume that all protein bars are incorrecly labeled (less protein, more fat, more sugar, more carbs than you think)
I usually have 1 while I am at work. I realize the bars have more carbs but I can work them off very easily.
its not the carbs, its the shit load of chemicals and sugars !!!!Originally Posted by bulletproof1

Umm,
I never mentioned the carbs, My initial question was on the fat content.
Mars
is that you in the avi, post some full body pics !!!!
well considering that most of the fat in most bars are hydrogenated and/or trans fats... I would steer clear of them.Originally Posted by Cinabonn

yep jen is on point, the hydrogenated fats and trans fast are our mortal enemies !!
i hope the government passes down regulations, like they said, which would force food manufacturers to label everything with the amount of trans fats in products.
