Pick a goal, lose fat or build muscle? If you are a newbie then it is possible to do both but don't expect to get too lean and built without changing your diet. Diet is the key fatloss.
I recently started lifting weight, I am however about 20lbs over weight in the midsection. A lot of my problem is my diet. I do know diet is a main key in weight. But I have an odd question. With my extra fat and muscle building using fat as its source. Then if i do not change my diet and keep what i am doing will i loose wieght and gain more muscle that way as opposed to changing my diet to less calories while I am lifting any input would be helpfull. As to what is the better alternative. thanx

well, let me put it this way: if you just started training and you have the fat and you kept your diet the same, yes you would lose fat and build muscle. Just due to the fact that you started training you will gain some muscle which will utilize more calories, and of course the training itself will burn calories as well. However, this will only take you so far if your diet and nutrition are not up to par.Originally Posted by username1
