    fish oil caps

    i just got my fish oil caps today, i know it's been discussed before but about how many should i be taking a day, just enough to fill out my fat requirements for the day? I am currently eating approximately 3200-3500 cals. Each cap has 1 gram of fat.

    Taken from Healthnotes:-

    Most researchers studying the effects of EPA and DHA in humans who have a variety of health conditions have given those people at least 3 grams of the total of EPA plus DHA—an amount that may require 10 grams of fish oil, because most fish oil contains only 18% EPA and 12% DHA.
    I think Fish Oil caps are usually around 1 -1.5g each.

    I say just take enough so that you meet your daily fat requirements. You need to get your fats from other sources too, so don't go gobbling 30 a day. Probably 2 of them after a few of your meals will suffice unless your diet really lacks fat.

    yeah that is probably what i was going to go with so i would get about 6-8 caps a day

    i would say neither, i'm looking to gain weight, currently about 160 lbs. give or take some water. I'm trying to gain weight and keep my leaness, sorry don't want to say i'm bulking cause that just sounds like a dirty(fat) word to me

    Jodi, My question is not directly related to this thread, but is connected to it. But i may very well be on the wrong track.
    My question regards toxicity of Vitamin A. Presently i take cod liver oil caps (great for cartilage reconstruction/development and that i support from experience). Howver 1cap has 2500iu. So assuming i were to follow the above suggestion for myself as i am bulking as well, that would 2500 x 8 = 20000iu. Plus my daily multi vit pill consists of 3500iu. So total would be 23500iu. Toxic levels are suggested to be from 10000iu for an adult. (One source http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?t...rient&dbid=106). Or are the fish oil caps referred to above a different story???

    Fish oil for summer, cod liver oil for winter. Unless you live in a warm weather climate all year round like myself then its fish oil all the time
