i heard that the starvation response occurs when you consume less than your BMR in calories. However,i'm wondering whether it takes days for that to happen ( like if your sick, not much food for a few days) or is the time based on how low you went ( like say by eating 300 calories would trigger the response in a day rather than days) but obviously eating normal the next day...IM NOT doing this or planning to do this or anything but im curious. SO.... would it take a while or could it happen in as fast as a day eating like 300 calories even though you eat normal the next day. ( hopefully that ONE day would not alert the body to slow anything down, as long as eating was fine the next day)thank you if you know anything about this...
sorry but i forgot to ask about the fat loss when you essentailly " fast" or are too sick to eat much of anything for a day. So, even if the metabolism does not decline b/c of that one day, would there be any fat loss at all, or does the body hault everything ( even though its only a day) i wouldn't think the body would stop fat loss and conserv everything if it only was for a day right?

I gather it would depend on the individual. Someone with a fast metabolism, ectomorph, may enter starvation mode alot faster than an endomorph.

I believe you would muscle and some fat. But if you lose muscle your losing your best fat loss method. Each pound of muscle you have burns an additional 30-50 cals per day.
