cutting macros - if YOU had to pick

if you had to choose between these 2 arrangements for cutting - which way would you prefer?

    55% calories from protein
    30% from carbs
    15% from fat

    or

    50% protein
    30% carb
    20% fat

    or

    50% protein
    35% carb
    15% fat

i know...very minor differences. humor me.

Are you thinking about your post TP-PT future NG? I'm intrigued to see what's next for you, you like a 5-day split, am I right? But still more cutting, you sure?

    yep - i like a 5 day split.

i'm sure about the cutting. i do long for the day that i can actually bulk though!

the reason i'm still cutting is b/c i haven't done a very good job with that. i've been really good about my training - never missing and busting my butt.

i've improved with the eating and haven't eaten "crap" in ages but i still haven't nailed it and been totally consistent. i have my perfect days - but i also have days where i miss meals and days when i eat without measuring and days that i eat reasonably clean but not the way i should/would on a cut.

guess i'm saying i still suck with the eating - but less than i used to.

I'm interested - you tried carb cycling, am I right? That didn't work out so well for you? Stupid question of course, if it had you wouldn't be changing ... I should maybe go read around your older journals hey, I think you're as obsessive as me about keeping such, right

I'm not great at meauring 24/7 either, it's why I think I like cc. Although I'm definitely not doing it exactly by the book ...

Well, what are you cutting for? None of these things that you listed are bad things at all. Unless ofcourse you are going to compete. Other than that these seem like typical things that happen to people but in general you seem to be eating healthy so I don't think you should worry what much.

For cutting I like these ratios:
    50/20/30 p/c/f
    40/30/30 p/c/f
    50/30/20 p/c/f

I usually rotate around the three

This is very similar to what Im doing right now. Carb cycling did not work for me mentally or physically. Following a plan like this has been super easy, and I am actually seeing results!

I agree with Prince, this would allow you to perform pretty well too. If you could hack it, 50/20/30 like PFunk said would be better, IMO.

I find that there is an optimal amount of carbs that I can intake that will allow me to go balls to the walls in cardio and still drop weight. Any less and I can't function properly.
If sense were common, everyone would have it.

    thanks everyone!

pfunk....i'm cutting b/c i'm not comfortable with the amount of fat i'm carrying right now. i've decided to only cut for about 8 weeks and try to be pretty flawless with it. then i'm gonna try to add more muscle.

my outlook is much better than it has been though. i'm not miserable with my weight b/c i can very clearly see that i gained muscle with the fat. i just really want to get a better look at the muscle.

oddly enough novo...when i am sticking with my eating plan i really LIKE to do all the measuring and planning of the numbers and meals.

carbs are too low, if you're an "athlete" you need more carbs or you will have no energy and crappy work-outs IMO.

and like I told you nikegurl in that PM, those were Gena's macros for her last diet and you saw how lean she was.

    well, actually hers were closer to 55% P / 35% C / 10% F
