You dont need some fancy diet and you dont need to read some inspirational diet book. All you need is to want to look/feel better and you can do it. Read the diet posts around here and you will realize that not many of us are on any "specific diet". Keep your protein up your sugar negligible and whole grains at a good level.

I certainly agree. For most (not those that compete), moderation and finding the right balance in diet is the key to sucess. You may find that you get "burnt out" from a specific diet, with all the "cans" and "cants". Sticking to a clean healthy diet with occasional splurges are fine.
Have you read the stickies at the top of the forum? Theres tons of information there to lead you in the right direction, including wise food choices.

you could try a moderate carb diet...

seriously, unless you're going for a competition or are really obsessed with burning fat off in a short period of time...you could stick to carbs at 45% and as long as you're working out and doing your cardio as part of a healthy eating active lifestyle...you'll be melting fat away.

For some reason people seem to think that anything higher than 40% carbs is a high carb diet...it isn't. 50% carbs isn't even a high carb diet.

I personally cannot do low carb...it messes with me too much mentally, and the low energy levels are something I do not need when going into the gym, work or anything...I don't feel like doing jack shit cause I turn into worthless mush

What's worse....when you're drained and tired and can't think straight, you're that much more likely to cheat on your diet.

Lack of sleep will also cause this.

Depending on your goals, there should really be no reason for you to go low carb. And if your goals demand a low carb diet, then make sure you've got them written down, read them all the time and carry them with you as a constant reminder.
