    I don't get it

3 scoops of protein is at the very least 66g of protein and over 300 cal

1 cup of oats is 300 cal and 54g carbs

That makes absolutely no sense to me...then raisins on top of it when you're on a cut

anyway, an "oatmeal breakfast" with whey isn't anything special. You must be a big fella, though.

don't cook with whey proteins...quality whey proteins are manufactured at the lowest temperatures possible for a reason. if you are going to cook with protein use egg or milk isolates..

yeah good point, I let my oatmeal cool down for a few minutes before I add the whey, even.

Cause if I try to mix it in right after it comes out the microwave, the whey just turns into chunks, it doesn't mix well at all.

Usually my breakfast is 3/4 cup of oats, 1 cup of skim milk, 1 scoop of whey and 120g strawberries/1/2 large grapefruit

I'm interested in reading an explanation of those macro's, though. I'm assuming you're a big guy, so you're having a 700 cal breakfast even on a cut...but dude...how much protein you getting per scoop? lol

I add those same things plus some fruit into a blender and its even better. It really isn't a big breakfast though, maybe calorie wise yes but actual food wise no....its only 2 cups of oatmeal b/c the whey is nothing. You don't need to be a big guy to eat that, I have been eating it for ages and I am far from "big" by everyones standars here.

As for cooking your whey, don't do it as others have said. At least wait until the the oats are cooled down a little to add it. I've also seen people cook their oatmeal with very little water just to get it cooked but very dry, then mix their whey with milk/water and add it to the oats. It is a very thick whey mixture. It is the same concept as people adding additional cold milk to oats to cool them down and thin them out.

Well yeah I was referring to the calories on a cut

from what I know, on a cut you should have "small meals". Calories wise at the top end you're talking around 500-550 calories. I've heard that for breakfast, if your caloric needs are met, going over 600 is ok.

Maybe that's just a bunch of bullshit, and if in the end if everything's within your requirements then it's all good, but that's what I've read.

So I figured anybody having over 700 calories for breakfast on a cut must be a big dude.

What really stood out to me was the amount of protein, though...if you're getting 20+g of protein per scoop, that's over 60 grams of protein just from the whey. There's 10 from the cup of oatmeal

over 70g of protein in one meal? Isn't that completely unnecessary?

Protein from the oatmeal doesn't need to be counted b/c to the quality of meat, eggs, dairy, and powdered proteins oat/rice protein is inferior. Thats the way most go by.

Protein is the one thing that can be eaten in larger amounts without as many worries as fats and carbs. Also maybe he is carb cycling. It could be a high carb day which needs a small amount of fruit with every carb meals and the program allows for as much protein as you wish. Now I'm sure he is not carb cycling or cutting for that matter but I was just stating how it could be done heh.

Some believe that to much protein is useless in one meal b/c the body can't handle over a certain amount of it in one sitting. Bbut what about someone in the heavy weights? Someone trying to grow even at 240lbs? Thats at least 480g's a protein a day, divided by 6 is 80g's a protein per meal.

whenever I get sick of eggs and oatmeal (happens almost never and lasts about a day or two) I just eat steak and sweetpotato for breakfast. Who says you have to eat breakfast food at breakfast?

Protein pancakes or Muffins. Make them the night before and heat em up. They still taste good I know there is plenty of recipes for Oatmeal/Protein pancakes and Sweet potato pancakes in the recipe forum.

I just make all my food the night before including eggs. Only thing I have to make every day is oatmeal which takes 3 minutes in the microwave. I use to get sick of oatmeal when I first started...I would just do as pat does and have some chicken/steak with some brown rice or yams. I love rice in the morning don't ask me why. As for now though I only have oats once a day so I love that one meal, I use to eat em 3-4 times a day sometimes.

arbntmare....there are way around everything you just need to get creative and jazz your food up some. Everyone here got sick of something at one point or another you just need to learn how to change things up so its doesn't happen often. Have you tried adding some new flavors to your oats or anything?

Doesnt your stomach break down the molecules via enzymes? I mean it's kind of like saying your body uses a Big Mac to build muscle.

But getting to my original point; It doesnt make sense that a microwave can denature protein to a point that it is totally useless. Your stomach acids denatiure the crap out of food, breaking it down into smaller molecules.
And by the way, BIG MACs rule. I miss them sooooooo muuuuuuuucccchchchhhhhh. I am in the middle of training for a contest and they are one of the things I miss. Right after my contest i am going to feast on my wife's lasagna, pizza and BIG MACS BABY!!!!!!!!

    wrong..wrong...wrong

there is a HUGE difference between a protein being "denatured" and having fragile protein structures destroyed by heating. when proteins are digested by stomach acids and enzymes they are "denatured" naturally in specific locations for a specific purpose.

when certain proteins (whey protein fractions) are heated the nucleus of these protein stuctures is very fragile and can be damaged making it unusable for anabolic processes. heat causes many adverse chemical reactions
