Possible that with some individuals too much carbs make you feel tired & weaker at different times of the year provided that everything medically is in proper order?

From what I've studied this can happen. But I'd like to hear some of your opinions on the subject.

Last year I was eating 3 grilled red potatoes a day, along with 2 cups of natural oatmeal total for the day.

For a good several months I was gaining a lot more strength & thickness than when I was eating less carbohydrates.

But don't forget I do need constant monitoring for my thyroid condition that is currently normal & has been for 3 months so things are functioning properly.

It's been since March/April that my thyroid has been normal.

But I began noticing that I started over time gaining some body fat, not a lot but more than usual which isn't good for someone who's trying to get tighter.
Plus I started losing some strength which I thought was weird.

I cut back on the carbs to 3 servings a day with 3 meals a day out of 7.
I cut out the potatoes & am just eating %100 natural oatmeal or steamed brown & wild rice.

I was & still am doing HIIT training & sometimes just moderat cardio depending how tired I am.

Since this I started tightening up much more efficiently & I've gained more strength than when I noticed this change.

Maybe it's just a coincidence, maybe it's not or maybe it's thyroid related.

Do any of you have any thoughts to share?

    Thanks for your time.

hypoglycemia? insulin resistance? were you eating protein with the carbs before?

could be thyroid related in your case as well.

I definitely get very lethargic on a higher carb diet. I just revolve all my carbs around my training, which is three meals a day (pre workout, post workout meals 1 & 2).

    Peace.

    Yeah I was eating properly.

I was eating 6-7 meals a day with a mix of skinless boneless chicken breasts, Pollack fish (no mercury), & lean beef.

Along with citrus fruits, an apple, a bananna & green vegetables a day along with 1500-2000ml's of water every day.

Plus I would only cheat once a week maybe twice but something really small & usually just on the weekend but I'd still eat the rest of my daily food intake.

Plus I take Flax Seed Oil & Salmon Oil containing Omega-3 another EFA.

I hear you about higher carb diets, but you should & can eat more protein in your diet & they won't get you fat especially if you're training.

But in my case it could be thyroid related but if my thyroid is stable so I'm not so sure that it's thyroid related but who can really say.

All I know is that since I've switched my diet I have lost some lbs, but I feel bigger, harder, leaner & stronger again with lowering my carb intake.

Here is the link to a thread on thyroid conditions as I'm not the only one here with one.

But in short terms I was fine for all of my life until whne I was 21yrs old in 2000. I was 5ft10 227lbs give or take a few lbs until I started taking the ephedrine/ephedra & thermogenic fat burners. They threw my thyroid way into the hyper state.

I didn't know what was wrong so I stopped taking the supplements. I in 4 weeks shrunk down to a really small & weak 200lbs. It wasn't a strong 200lbs either. I've been on treatment for the last 4yrs & finally things are stable but I've had a lot of difficulty getting back to even 220lbs with the descent condition I had at 227lbs.

Does anyone here have either Hypo or Hyper Thyroid Dysfunction?

As you'll see there are others here with a thyroid condition as well.

But back on track I really wish I could resize this image of Sean Allen shaking hands with Ronnie Coleman it's freaky. Ronnie looks small compared to him.

If anyone wants to try to resize it give me your e-mail address.

But I do this for a job & it didn't work. I've tried a couple of other photo softwares & it wouldn't open. I haven't seen this very often which is why I'm puzzled.

If anyone else has any luck resizing it, please post it here.

Well it's even more funny you bring that up. LOL

in 2004 before they figured out I had hyper thyroid condition, I was on Zoloft for anxiety disorder as I was always jumpy, nervous, easily stressed & so on.

But that turned out to be side effects from my unknown at the time hyper thyroid condition.

I stopped Zoloft a couple of years ago & I immediately dropped a lot of body fat w/o losing much weight.

Zoloft is known for weight gain or gain in abnormal bodyfat.

But my Mom is on Paxil & she says there's no weight gain side effects like Zoloft, but maybe does have an interaction with certain foods.

You can't just stop meds like these even though I did with Zoloft.

Cold turkey isn't the best idea. If you want to get off them, it's better to taper of slowly down to 0mg that way you won't get withdrawl symptoms as much or if at all.

I think like with steroids or any supplement these medications are individual on the effects.

But one thing I'm noticing now is that I'm losing BF but not too many lbs which is good while keeping strength.
