Do you eat before an early morning run?

Hi all,

I like to do my cardio right out of bed before I start my day. I always eat a generous breakfast after my run, but I'm not sure if I should eat before the run.
If yes, what would you recommend to eat?

Depends on if you are trying to burn off some fat. If you are then I wouldn't eat at all before your run.

empty stomach cardio is completly over rated IMO (for "fat burning" benefits). If I do early morning sprints I have a small protein shake w/ small fruit or just the shake.
I could never run, sprint or any type of cardio without something in my stomach.. get far too light headed and nauseus feeling.

I drink a protein shake 20 mins. before I run. If I don't I am too tired and drained the rest of the day. Others have no problems. Try both ways and see which works better for you.

I think I can skip the whey and go with coffee
or is this a bad idea for me?

You can try it sure just monitor yourself and if you need to add the shake back in prior to cardio then do so. NEVER lift weights without food though.

I could never lift without eating anything.. I need to eat 30 minutes - 1 hr. before training .. no matter what time I weight train

I will try it one day.. I think I will be fine, as long as I eat right after I finish cycling.. "my normal yummy meal" Oats and shake

I always eat just regular honey bunches of oats before I run in the morning, Seems to work fine, although it might not be the best thing to do

No, I can't say that processed refined cereal is the best choice

Talking about cereal.. If I ever get a cheat day. Atkins' low carb Almond flavor cereal w. milk or cottage cheese would be at least 2 of my cheat meals

I would be eating what I'm craving for and that is not good on daily basis
I know Low carb cereal is not considered as a cheat meal.. but that's one of my favorite cereal and coco pops
Or I can just cheat with one can of nuts
