Low carb diet and Weightlifting questions

Well before I started on a low carb diet I was at around 260 pounds, now I am down to 222. I know I lost a lot of muscle, but I would also like to get down to 205 ish while still following the low carb diet.

While I was on the diet I quit lifting weights for like 3 months, now I would like to get back to weight lifting.

My main question is in regards to my diet, while I am on my diet and how it will affect my weight training....

Having low amounts of carbs and higher amounts of protein will this negativly affect building muscle?

How many grams of protein should I look to eat a day for building muslce?

Any other advice regarding low carb and weight lifting would be helpful as well.

Thank you,
Derrick

Why did you u stop weight training? that could be one of the very reasons that you lost muscle. If its not used, then it has no reason to exsist.

How LOW carb are you going? IMO if you are going to be weight training consistantly then you need carbs for performance, maintain LBM, metabolism, etc.

you need to cycle your carbs to get anabolic and limit muscle catabolism. low insulin most of the time is good, but you need periodic carb loads

What is "cycle carbs".

The reason I stopped weight training was mostly due to time restrictions, I work full time as well as run a small business on the side. Now I am able to better manage my time so I want to get back on track espcially since I am down to 222.

Start by reading the stickies at the top of the forum called Guide to cutting. It will help you get started. Low carb diets are not all they are cracked up to be, especially for weightlifters.
