    Question Calorie Requirements and Sugars

    Hi Everyone,
I've been lurking and learning a lot about dieting (in my quest to loose body fat) but I am confused about sugars(specifically lactose) and total caloric requirements. How much lactose is too much? Currently I take in about 20 gms of lactose in my diet. The rest of my carbs come from veggies and oatmeal. Is 20 gms of lactose sugar too much? Another way of asking the same question would be, "What percentage of one's total carbohydrate intake can come from simple sugars?" As long as I am below my maintenance calories and getting enough protein and fats and weight training, does it really matter that 10% of my carbs intake are simple sugars? Or should I totally eliminate all simple sugars?
What is the lower/upper limit for simple sugar consumption?? I hope my question makes sense.
    Thank you....

I dont think that there is a set "limit" that you are looking for in regards to the sugars. I would aim to keep them low while cutting. As for the lactose, 20gms doesnt seem to be that much but then it depends on progress. Are you loosing weight? If so then if its not broken, dont fix it Otherwise if you have noticed a slow in fat loss, perhaps it would be at your advantage to cut back on the lactose a bit.
