Most food is digested within 2.5-3hrs, depending on what you ate. To keep energy levels high, metabolism elevated(remember that more frequent small feedings spark digestion more, ie calories burned as well). If though your not hungry, appetite could be blunted by various things, caffiene a big one.
2/3 days starvation level Im sure would not cause that much a havoc on your body.. it can adapt quite well.. think caveman time when they would get minimal food and then lots after a large hunt.
Trying to reduce stress can also help with fatloss, cortisol (produced from stress) can stall things.
make sure you drink enough water, get enough sleep.. not enough or abnormal sleep patterns can lower metabolism. drinking enough water ensures that the body functions normaly.
you CAN recover from yo-yo dieting effects on BMR by making the above changes to your lifestyle, and slowly increasing consumption of food. You need to retrain the bdoy to process enough calories again.
