Please help me. I'm an older fella who's been hitting the weights since 7/01/04 I'm 6'1" tall and weighed 278 lbs on the above date. When I started lifting I changed my eating habits, ti only incl chicken breast, salad and fruits, eating as much as I wanted. On 8/26 I tipped the scales at 254 lbs a 24 lb lost. I'll inform you that I lift heavy 5 days a week and get on my elliptical machine for 20 min's 4-5 fays a week. On 8//26 I decided to go on gear and try to bulk up to 300m and then cut down to about 275 lbs. Well I'm on my way as of today I weigh 270 lbs.
What's bothering me is that I only eat around 3500-4000 cal's, low in fat and 300 grams of protein a day, still working out real hard 5 days a week and riding the elliptical machine for 20 min's 4-5 days a gaining so much weight so quickly. I'm afraid it's gonna go to the waist. I thought when you try to bulk, you should refrain from cardio and eat 5000-6000 cal's a day. What do you think is going on. I have put 1 1/2" on my chest, 1 1/4" on my arms, but also 1" on my waist

Congrats to Tough for getting back in better shape than most 30 year olds.
2 things I see that I disagree w/. First, eating low fat is not good. When your body doesn't get enough fats, it holds on to all the fats in the body. 2. I would never stop doing cardio unless your eating like 6000 cals a day and not gaining an ounce. You prob. gained weight so quickly because of water weight.
Ummm... Reelbigfish - I might just point out that ToughOldMan has progressed a great deal since he posted that post... (the original post is about 1 yr old. ).
