Thumbs down I just got a talking to from my Boss

It seems that if I eat chips or candybars at my desk it is OK. But a peice of chicken, broccoli or tuna salad is not exceptible.
Lets see being healthy is bad, unhealthy is good. I just don't understand, I guess that's why he is the boss.

Did you ask him to explain the difference?

No I explained to him that I was snacking on something healthier. And that I require food more times of the day because I was choosing to eat healthier and it requires a lot more food to get the calories I need then if I were to eat junk food.
If I would have questioned him on it it would have been a problem for me, I really don't want that. I guess I'm eatting every 2 hours now; that will make me eat about 7 to 8 times a day.

Funny thing is message boards take more of my time at work then eatting does.

My ex-boss used to give me the same talkings-to, except that at my job I didn't have a desk, I used to take 5 minute snack times 2x during a 8-10 hr. shift to run in the 'back room' and eat small snack.
He was the fitness director and I worked at a gym. But it was okay for some people to go to the gym's 'cafe' and eat a muffin, bagel, or chips out on the floor while working.

I do not think it's necessary to eat every 2 hours, every 3 hours is sufficient.

If necessary you could switch to a protein/mrp drink or a protein bar.

2 hours are when my breaks are. I try to stay away from protein bars at this websites suggestion that they are barely better then a candy bar. I have them (protein bars) just for snacking. I'm sticking with my tuna salad it looks more snack like and maybe bring my broccoli in smaller bags. or I can carry my food in a chip bag or a cookie box

my point is if you're eating a decent/healthy amount of protein/carbs/fat it should take about 3 hours for the stomach to empty/digest, obviously this can vary depending on what you eat, inidividual metabolism, etc.

as far as the bar recommendation I just meant if you had no other choice, as in your boss tells you stop eating your chicken breast or whatever.

I eat one protein bar every day, which I save for a time when busting out a tupperware full of food isn't convenient or plausible. It works very well for me. They aren't the best thing, but they are better than going catabolic. Do what you can in this busy world of today.

You should also ask your boss if he would mind pulling his head out of his ass before he makes decisions like that...

you could always tell him you've started smoking and need the smoke breaks that other employees probably take. (only break out the tupperware instead. )

This is ridiculous. I would BE ALL OVER THIS GUY IN A MINUTE, be he my boss or not. Hell, I'd prepare a 30-page manifesto and present it to HIS boss, if necessary. What a jackass!

Did he even bother explaining why a candy bar was ok? Was it maybe the SMELL? Because chicken and tuna and other cooked food SMELLS and a candy bar doesn't, maybe?

I know some people at my office complain sometimes if they smell eggs, or tuna... but I've never been told I can't eat something.

OH MY GOD! i'm so angry FOR you! ARRRGHHH!

Or eat lots of broccoli and a ton of protein and then go lay a silent but deadly, protein-laden fart in his office.

Did I just say that? Damn, I'm sorry. hahah. What a dumb bastard, though.

Maybe you should talk to your boss again. Let him know how important eating healthy and bodybuilding is to you.

In all seriousness, sophomoric attacks on both his heritage and sexuality are the way to go.

    I'm actually sorta' lucky in this department- I eat five meals a day: 7:30, 10:30, 1:00, 4:00 and 6:30.

1:00 is lunch, but I've talked to my second period teacher (the one whose class I'm in at 10:30) and she allows me to eat any food that I want during the class, as long as it doesn't have a strong aroma.

Just put the broccoli in the potato chips bag, the tuna salad between whole wheat breads that look like Mc´d and prepare the chicken to look like a product from KFC.

No I eat every 3 to 3.5 hours breaks are every 2 hours.

I will Just ignore the boss and eat what I eat, when I eat. After all, today there is a box of donuts 10 feet from me and everyone is stuffing there face, at their desk and not on break. To me that is very distracting but I would never complain to someone about it.

Well, if he has the nerve to talk to you again about your food, especially today, PLEASE make sure to point out this box of donuts and the fact that everyone IS stuffing their face during work time, and not break time.

It would be even better if you said this to him while he himself is holding a half-eaten donut in his hand, and has a crumb of glaze or chocolate on his chin.

At least my coworker TRIED to do something healthier yesterday, most likely after I bitched out loud about the bag pastries last week. Instead of regular vanilla sandwich cookies, she brought in "natural" vanilla sandwich cookies (like the vanilla oreo type) from the whole foods store. The ingredients are decidedly healthier, but it's still a bag of cookies!

I don't think the boss would be that reckless about it. we'll see at 10:30 when I pull out the 3lb bag of broccoli to snack on. In all reality he will wait for a different day to bring it up, a day with out donuts, cookies, or any snacks.
My worry is that I will mess up the ability to snack at the desk for everyone.

In all honesty I can't eat protein bars as I have a brace fixed to my teeth and they're texture is similar to clay, I work lifting green trays full of whole chickens/ beef joints during my working hours, and even though I start at 7 am and get a break at 10am, and then again at 1pm, I drink alot of water when I get up, and around 8-9 am ( as I wake at 5.30am and leave home at 6am), I say I am off to the toilet a pound down a weight gainer shake, then have a healthy meat & salad for lunch, and a meat& veg dinner in the evenin. (when I work an early shift), I should be pounding down a shake at half five when I get up, but I am soo weary I just want caffiene and to get to work so i can get home again, anyways, if I am only working until 4pm ( no afternoon tea break), I ' go to the toilet again' at 3pm and pound down another shake and no one seems any the wiser, luckily when i work until 5pm I go on my tea break at 3pm anyways. btw, I work for Asda in the Uk.

2 days back in the office and I still eat my meals. I get some dirty looks from the boss. but this boss has told me good job on health changes. I was 310 lbs over half fat. So I don't know how he can expect me to eat a shickers or a bag of chips.

If he mentiones it again, i suggest keep a big pic of you when you were 310 at your desk(saying it is for motivational reasons ) and tell to him that you are trying to save yourself and get healthier and lead a more productive life/job (and point at the pic). If he has adequate amount of grey matter between his ears, he would see your point.
