A couple of diet questions

Why is it bad to eat fruit later on the day? Say you're still within your caloric intake, would eating fruit really stall the weight loss?

Why should we eat protein at every single meal? If my total protein intake for the day is good does it really matter if 2 out of 5 of my meals won't have protein in them?

Thank you

It is not all that bad to eat fruit later in the day. Especially high fibre/low calorie fruits like berries. And no - it will not stall weight loss. Overall calorie intake is what is going to matter at the end of the day.

Maybe in terms of competition cutting diets you would be concerned and try to keep fruits around things such as workouts/earlier in the day (when you are out burning energy), but it curtainly will not hurt a healthy weight loss diet by having a little fruit later in the day.

Yes it is best if you eat protein in each meal. This is because of a few reasons... For starters, protein is the most satisfying of all the macronutrients. It increases your satiety signals during a meal and will cause you to feel fuller faster and will keep you fuller for longer. Protein also has a higher thermogenic potential than either fats or carbohydrates. This means it takes the body more energy to digest and utlise - which means you use more energy to get the energy it provides (that is, it keeps your metabolism higher, which is important when you are trying to loose weight). Protein spread evenly throughout the day also ensures your body has a good, constant supply of amino acids - which provides your muscles with the building blocks for growth and repair and helps prevent your muscles being utilised as a protein source when dieting...

So basically, if you can manage it, you are better off if you can keep a complete protein in each meal.
