    Fish Oil Pills?

I do pretty weel with my diet, but i sometimes have trouble finding some good fats to put in my diet throughout the day. I know EFA's are optimal, but how much? Are the fish oil capsules effective even though they only have 1g fat/pill? I don't want to take 9-10 of them at each sitting if ya know what I mean. I bought a jar of 300 capsules, but don't know if they are useful or a waste of money at that low quantity of fat/pill. thanks, Matt

What are your goals? How much EFA's do you take now?

They are by far from a waste of money.

Try fish oil in liquid form. You can get it in lemon flavour, so it doesn't taste horrible. It would take you a lot of capsules to get the same amount you would from a TBSP of fish oil. Should be able to find it at any health food store.

My goals are to gain about 5-10 lbs lbm but keep off the excess fat usually gained by bulking (see current pic of 2 weeks ago in my gallery). I know its a slower process this way, but I would like to maintain good shape. I feel i am adding a little extra unwanted weight right now since i dropped my workouts from 6 days/week to 4 days/week from overtraining. If I were to use the fish oil caps from my EFA supplement, how often should I take them throughout the day? I will continue to have 1 tbs PB w/ first meal, 2 tbs flax seeds with pre-wo meal (meal 3), the fat in salmon or tuna at meal 5 (meal 4 being PWO with no fats) and either the fish oil caps, PB, or some other form of fat at meals 2 and 6 (before bed). I hope my description above makes sense, but how amny would you take? Thanks!

    Matt

Seeing you want to put on mass, then I'd say 10-12 caps per day should be fine. Cutting, for you, I'd say 15-20. You don't need as much while adding size. Especially seeing you are also using flax. Stick with only 1 serving of PB a day.

I think the PB and excess of fats I have added to my diet is the cause of my slight excess weight added recently, I'll watch that. Is 15-20 caps/day safe? They are the same kirkland's caps you take from costco

Yeah it's safe, sometimes I take that much too. However, you are not cutting so I'd stick with 10-12.

Thanks, one more question on this if ya don't mind, if you take 10-12/day, do you spread it out throughout your meals with the majority at meal 1 and before bed meal (using these caps as the majority of your fat intake)?

I'd take 6 with one meal and 6 with another meal. Find your lower fat meals and add them there.

Because it's not nearly as essential as omega 3's.

You are not worried about any toxins?
    Like PCBs, mercury, and others?
You should check with the supplier for the quality and processing techniques if you don't know. I think it should be molecularly distilled.
I don't trust cheap oil at all! You should use high quality oil. If it is low quality oil it could be a waste of money, or harmful.
What I take costs 34.00 for 120 with natural E.
If you take that many you should take natural vitamin E like 2-400 mgs, with the oils to prevent oxidation of the oils.
Have you heard that you need to store the oils in the fridge for best keeping? They will oxidize as they are exposed room tempratures.
So how long has your oil been sitting around before you bought it?
    Freshness matters.
Marine Lipids (omega 3's, EPA, DHA) are essential; everyone needs them, training or not. They are worth it!
Omegas 6’s are essential too, but you’re getting some with the PB.
What about some walnuts or almonds too?
They have good essential fats. (6's & 3's)

Consumer Reports did a study on the different fish oils and found Kirkland to be just as good and safe as any other brand out there. As a matter of fact, it rated it the best overall.

why is it that we need more EFA caps if we are cutting then if we are bulking? Wouldn't that just add more calories?

Because EFA's help release FFA into the bloodstream. So instead you cut cals from somewhere else, such as carbs, and add the EFA's or you make most of your fat come from EFA's.
