You need more than 1 refeed per week especially if you are low carbing and low cals. You should refeed every 4 days IMO.
Hey guys. I am writing this up for anyone but especially for Jodi because she seems to respond with good info on tons of the information on everything I have ever searched. I am following a strict cutting diet. I am 6' about 169-170 right now, and I am getting around 1600-1650 calories a day. I know this might seem like not that much but I am experiementing with my body. My macros are currently 60/15/25 (P/C/F), so as you can see I am low carbing it. With the amount of calories I am getting for 6 days, for one day of the week could I refeed for 6-12 hours with as much as I can take in as long as I follow the basic refeed guideline of low fat and low fructose. I have been trying this for about a month now and I am getting pretty good results. I am just trying to get rid of the last bit of stubborn fat I have on my lower back. My energy levels seem fine till about fri. After my friday workout I drag myself back to the apartment have a shake and attempt to finish my studies so I know that my leptin is extremely low. I just wasn't sure if a 12 hour binge type refeed was the right way to go. Also I do cardio 6 times a week. Thanks for the info guys.
Tony

Haha my bad P-funk you were right up there on the list heh. Yea, I probably would refeed more than once a week but for me it is kind of a guilt thing. I know when refeeding that I am temporarily stopping fat loss and it takes about a good day or or two to get back to normal sometimes even more but after those first few couple of days I really feel like I am melting some of the fat off. Here is a list of what I had on my refeed sat. just to see if there is any criticism:
How does this look. I know it seems like alot but everything is very low in fat and fructose and I ate all of this in about 11-12 hours. I know this might be more than some people eat on this time of refeeds but I figure if I am only doing it once a week this will do the trick. By the way I am around 7-9 BF and trying to just shed what fat I have on my lower back. Any comments or criticism. Thanks for the help Jodi and P-funk.
- 3/4 box of Honeycomb (I looked at this and compared to most kiddie cereals it was low in sugar and really low in fat.
- 90 sec uncle bens brown rice.
- Half a tub of chocalate fat free no sugar added ice cream.
- Bag of baked tostitos.
- Two small meals of microwave pasta( Only 2 grams of fat per meal).
- Low fat Graham Crackers( Two servings= Two wrapped full sheets of em).
- Then like 5 cans of tuna for protein.
Damn, where's the pancakes, waffles and bagel?
Well, that's what I would eat anyway
Looks good to me.

Haha I should have known. After reading a bunch of your posts I can tell pancakes are up on your list.Actually, my last refeed I went through a box of fat free eggo waffles in like 10 min. I seriously ate them one after another. I just had to wait on the damn two slot toaster. Well I guess it looks like my refeed foods are good. Do you think I should stick to one refeed a week if I am getting this much food in 12 hours. Appreciate it. Normally I don't like asking alot of questions but I have killed myself looking up refeeds both on IM and bodybuilding.com. Thanks a bunch.

No, I really think you need to refeed every 4 days.

why you cutting when your 170 at 6'?
just a question
Ok well I will follow you on this one Jodi. If I do refeed every 4 days, how long should I refeed for and how many calories should I refeed on. I never thought I would have to refeed this much. Also, about the pancakes, where can I find some low fat or fat free ones. I looked in the local supermarket but I could only find normal one's that were still kind of fatty. Thanks.
I just made it a goal to get down to really low bodyfat just for once and also I have stubborn fat on my lower back that bothers the hell out of me. It is all because of football in high school and those days where I weighed 150. My junior year I bulked up with no knowledge of food and got up to 225. I still was around 12-15 bodyfat but I definately wasn't eating clean. Can someone say McDonalds 3 times a day along with massive amounts of Hungry Man XXl's and Pot pies. They did there job though I have to say.
Don't count calories. Eat til your satisfied. You can make low fat ones yourself or buy the Low Fat Bisquick. I also buy the Arrowhead Mills brand in my local natty grocery store.Originally Posted by tr2570fl
They have some great buckwheat, whole grain or oat bran ones. I sooooo love em'
It says to add oil to them but I don't. Instead I add more egg beaters and or natural applesauce instead.

Yumm that sounds good. Yea I might have to try the Low fat bisquick. I don't have any good supermarkets around here, so I have to deal with what I've got. Well thanks for all the help. I have everything straightened out now.![]()
Eggo makes a fatfree waffle, they dont have that in your local grocery store? Shoprite carries them....
Yea my local supermarket has those I was just looking for some fat free pancakes. Those Fat Free eggos are good but I am just tired of waffles and there is only like 8 or 10 of them in the box. Heh not enough for me.
I just have one last question about refeeds. Ever since my last refeed on Saturday, the first couple of days I felt extremely lean, (well after the 1 day of the bloating feeling). But when like Wed. came around, my body felt and looked like it was before my refeed. I know with the amount of low cals/carbs I am taking, I should be refeeding every 3-4 days, but I had a big exam and I couldn't do it twice this week. My question is, when it felt like my body wasn't as lean as before is this a sure sign that my metabolism has almost come to a complete stop? The weird thing is my refeed was so large that I still have energy and it's Thurs. Normally when I refeed, Thurs. comes around and I begin dragging my feet in the gym and everywhere else. Man I can't wait till this Saturday, seriously is the best schedule ever. Nascar, Stl. Cardinals game, college football, and a bunch of Lucky Charms, waffles, bagels, and pasta galore.Man I love refeeds. But seriously, is that what is happening to my metabolism or is it just me? I hope this isn't a totally useless question. But t hanks again for all the help.

Not necessarily. You really can't judge such a thing unless fat loss stops all together and even then it's easy to speed it up again.
Go 5 days in between refeeds if you still have energy.

If your body isnt as lean as before the refeed, doesnt that indicate that your refeed was too large and you are storing excess body fat? Just an idea...

No what I am saying is my body felt somewhat lean right before my refeed. But then when I did my refeed and about a day after my body felt extremely lean. Even more lean than it was before the refeed. But as a couple of days past it felt the same as it did before the refeed. Make sense I hope? From my experience from refeeds so far, everything is only positive towards my goal of losing body fat. Most of the fat I have is located on my back. I can drastically see a difference in the definition in my back just from almost close to a month of using 1 day a week/6-12 hour refeeds. But the main thing is I eat extremely strict during the entire week. That was once the refeed comes I don't feel guilty at all and I can enjoy watching sports and eating foods that make me feel like I am really cheating. Haha call me a dork, but my refeed is the most fun I have had in the past couple of weeks. School is so stressful because the hurricane screwed up all of my classes so I have so much work. But come Saturday I am seriously the happiest person ever. Heh, while doing homework right now I am making a grocery list for tomorrow's refeed. Oh while I am posting, I was wondering if getting EFA's from pistachios, egg yolks and natty pb is enough. I get around 45-55 grams of fats a day only 25% of that being saturated. I know there is flax oil and all of that stuff but is it really that necessary.
No, those are not Omega 3 EFA's.Fish oil is as well as Flax but fish oil is way better.
