Well if opinions is what your asking for, then based on my personal preference, i would say do both. I dont like to "bulk" or "cut". I just manage my diet/training so i can stay relatively lean but gain mass at the same time.
    Damn

    thanks for the compliments.
You look pretty solid yourself. And at 46, not bad at all. Not saying 46 is old or anything

    Good luck with your diet/training.

I like to do what sabre does (see pic in sig, taken several weeks ago, but im relatively the same, a little bigger in LBM)....it takes longer to get as big, but it has its consistent benefits and doesnt side track you as much. (If that at all made sense ) also, remember that when you cut, you actually will look bigger than you are as everything is defined. Id cut IMHO....good luck....ill be going on a cruise too in December

have you been on a cruise before???? You'd be better off to bulk while on the cruise.

I am close to your age so if I was to choose now I would cut up and slowly try to bulk up. But that's just me.

You look relatively lean already - get your training in order and watch your diet and you'll be fine in two months.

    Big vrs cut

    Hey Wannagetbig,

I have the same conundrum. When the goal is simply to get big, the focus on actually looking good gets messed up! Look around the gym. There are plenty of guys that are impressively big, although they often sacrifice definition in the process. What good is it to have muscles if they are hidden under a layer of fat?

Eat right and get plenty of rest and recovery all the time. Change your routine periodically. Figure on adding any weight slowly. Do these things and you will be fine regardless of what your short term goals are.

Judging from your picture, if I had an event coming along where I would be exposing more skin, I would go for cut. Muscular definition and vacularity win out with the ladies over simply being big.

Thanks PrimeMuscle - I've come to that conclussion after reading others replys. I just need to FOCUS .. FOCUS .. FOCUS on getting cut - and screw the rest for now - and yes.. by adding on the weights I shouldn't be loosing any lean muscle - and who knows. I may look BIGGER just by looking CUT!..

I'm guessing the more vascularity - will come with the lower bf and the more water -

And the point of being cut will come from the lower bf and the more water..

hmmmm there's a theme to this -- so I think..

    thanks!

You just may?? You defenitly will!!! BBing is an illusion. I look bigger when I am ripped than when I am fuller like I am now.

I am going to have to focus on getting a tighter bod - thats the way to do it .. the way to have the lady's drool .. .. nows not the time for bulking - maybe in mid feb.. until then I must focus on getting Lean and tight and having abs.. I'll get them no matter WHAT!

In two months...why? If your gonna do one do it right and truely cut up or truely bulk up...noyt worth doing a half ass job of both.

Whats up bud, for starts you look good for 46yo! Congrats on the progress so far! As for cutting or bulking, I'd cut up in the two months you have left. Done properly you will maintain as much LBM and just get rid of the BF. When you are cut you give the illusion that you are much larger then you really are. And yes vascularity comes with plenty of water and low BF.

I'd cut for now, you'll have the abs for your cruise, and trust me on this one, You WILL start your bulk up on your cruise, whether you want to or not. Food is available 24 hrs. Been on 2 cruises in the past 3 months, it's almost impossible to not gain weight, but there is usually a gym on board. Good luck and you look great,Hope I can look like that in about 11 years, I'm currently 35!!! what cruise line are you going with and to where? I went Carnival Cruise Line and we went to Jamaica,Cozumel, and the Grand Caymen Islands.

I did the western caribean(sp?) on Royal...some awsome times. Ate like a damn pig! I would base my dinner in the main hall on how to use up every piece of my setting up...all the spoons, forks, and knives.

I've been on a couple cruises. The drinks alone will make you gain weight not counting the food. You will have a blast though - HAVE FUN!

hey bro i'm feeling the determination and agression inside you to transform into a ripped up hulk of a guy, if thats the case your halfway there!

my advice is to definatly cut 1st, its tough work but in 2 months i could see you ripped up with abs n' all, and you might even add a little muscle (its not impossible if you do things right) you'll certainly look a lot bigger!

then after that slowly bulk keeping the fat off
