I need to change my diet

Right now, my diet is the same as what I would consider an average person. For breakfast, I'll usually have either cereal, waffles, pop-tarts, or a bagel. For lunch I'll usually have a PB/J sandwich or two and maybe some pretzels or something along with usually iced tea or water. For dinner, I usually have either pizza, a burger, or occassionally a sub sandwhich.

What I need to do is change it so I lose fat and still have the right things to gain muscle. I'm thinking of maybe eggs + toast in the morning, along with maybe some fruit. For lunch maybe not change much except fruit instead of chips/pretzels, and dinner I need to change pretty much totally. Basically I don't really have any idea how to cook for myself so, I'm not really sure how to go about changing a whole lot.

Also, is it ok to eat pretty much the same thing every day as long as you don't get sick of it, or is it better to change it up every day?

I guess basically I'm pretty ignorant about diet, and I need some help.

I'm not overweight by any means, but I'd like to lose my tummy and be overall more lean.

I've read through a good portion of that before, it's just a lot of it seems complicated. I guess I just need examples of what kinds of things I should eat and how much. I'm not really one to count up calories and grams of what I eat. Is it neseccary that I do that? I'd just like to know general things that I can eat that are healthy, they're available without much preparation, and I can get enough of to be filling.

I don't know, it's just like, I read through this stuff and it seems like I have so much to do just to get healthy on top of things I have to do everyday.

If only there were such a thing as healthy fast food...

Healthy food doesn't get any faster

    Egg whites - 5 minutes

    Oatmeal - 3 minutes

    Steamed veggies - 12 minutes

Shake of any sort in blender - 1 minute

Nuked Yams or Potatoes - 8 minutes

Not only is eating healthy simple but it's cheap as well

Nice 1 shut up and train, but I thought that microwavin foods damaged it, broke it down or something because micro waves actually heat the water on products or something?

Not that I know of. I never heard of such a thing. And even if that was the case that's not a valid reason to not eat healthy and go get McDonald's and Pizza instead IMO. I wasn't being funny either. I cook lots of food in the nuker.

Nuking it is so much easier than cooking it on the stove.

I agree. I never understood why soooo many people use the excuse that it takes too long or it's too expensive. Yams is just one food that any person could nuke and you pay 70 cents for one

It doesn't taste kind of weird when you microwave it? A lot of foods get really...I don't know humid/watery it seems when you microwave them. Also, what about meat I have no clue how to cook chicken or beef or anything else really...Also, does it matter what kind of things you put on potatoes, chicken etc? I love A1 sauce on chicken + meat. Any potatoes...probably sour cream and/or butter along w/ chives.

Look at the shopping list Jodi created in that thread. If you don't want to get really strict about your diet, just try to use a nice balance of various foods from each of the macro categories. Eat smaller portions, and eat 5 times per day.

In conjunction with this, perform some type of exercises. Weight training is great, especially if you supplement it with some type of cardio or other activity. I have been doing circuit callisthenics, and I am really enjoying those.

I'm currently on a 3 days split of legs/chest + triceps/back + biceps I'll also mix cardio in maybe 2 times a week, 3 if I feel like it... Do I need to do more with that type of diet or is this fine?

Also being in school doesn't help as we can't eat in class. I leave for class about 8:00 am and get back around 2:00 pm. Other than fruit what are some healthy easy to fix things I could take for lunch?

Just got back from the grocery store and got a lot of stuff. A couple yams, a couple potatoes, some eggs, Fiber One cereal, eggs, lean beef/steak skinless chicken, 2% milk, whole wheat bread, clementines, granny smiths, real butter, lettuce, 5g fat/tbs garlic dressing, frozen peppers and mixed vegetables, some baby carrots and fat free ranch dip, and some other random things I can't remember adding up to $134.
