For starters, mashed potatoes aren't really vegatables. It's a carb.

For veggies, try some greens such as spinach, romaine lettuce. You could also opt for foods like brocolli, celery, green peppers. You could also have a couple servings of fruit a day.

With regards to meat (protein) try incorporating some white meat along with the red meat that you are eating (e.g., chicken, turkey, fish). Egg-whites (and whole eggs) are an excellent source of protein. Dairy products, especially milk, yogurt, and cottage cheese are also great sources of protein.

Then come the carbs. Stick to complex carbs such as brown rice, sweet potatoes (and other members of the yam family), natural oatmeal (not instant).

And don't forget your "good fats" that can be found in almonds (and other nuts), fish, fish oil, flax-seed oil.

That should give you a starting point.....

    Good Luck!
If you don't risk anything, you risk even more!

Are you scared of the other foods, is that the problem? Have lots of steak, sweet potatoes, veggies, eggs/whites, etc. And it's totally ok to enjoy drinks, soda and chips (but everything in moderation) because I don't think 70 kilos is a lot for someone who is 5"11.
