Solid foods are always better then suppliments. As for protein many say 1g per lb of LBM is the bare minimum. I've heard of some people going as high as 3g's per lb of LBM but thats overboard. If you have the option to consume real foods do so...but if not theres nothing wrong with supplimenting it.
I don't think 153g's is to much...in fact it may be to low depending on your goals and curent meal plan.
