Sodium is needed for sure but there is no need to add lots of sodium to your food. 2-4 grams a day is enough to keep water retention to a min and still supply enough sodium to the body. Just drink plenty of water.
Hello,
I've been reading posts where people are saying sodium is really bad for us. My question is, what if we are drinking a couple gallons of water a day? Won't a lot of the sodium be flushed out?
If we need to stay away from sodium, then what is the most we should take in while cutting/losing fat?
Thank you![]()

Traditionally, the dietary habits of Asian cultures are much higher is sodium than European foods. However, they have much lower instances of high blood pressure/coronary problems/salty tears that we are told high sodium will cause.
Too much can be bad, but the bottom line is if you are taking in all the H2O you should, it is not a big thing to worry about. All things in moderation, right?

Thanks for the replies. Will too much sodium prevent fat loss? I realize if we don't drink enough water we will retain more because of the sodium, etc... but i am just curios regarding fat loss.
Thanks.
No, it won't effect fat loss but it can assist in high blood pressure if you do too much.

Intracellular water retention is anabolic, as it increases intake of nutrients that are essential for growth. Sodium is good![]()

maybe that's because they are less sensitive to sodium since they eat it all the time... just a thought.Originally Posted by Pylon
