Carbs before Bed? Will it hinder fat loss?
Hi,
I have heard both ways as to the truth about eating carbs before bed. I know that a lot of people say eating carbs before bed gets stored as fat. I am on a strict fat loss diet right now and i am trying to adjust my daily menu for maximum fat loss, and I am wondering what the truth is about this? I am trying to figure out the contents of my last meal of the day but I am worried about too many carbs before bed. I figure cottage cheese, a boiled egg, or a fat free yogurt might be alright. Please let me know if carbs are not good before bed while on a fat loss diet. Thank you!!! ![]() Last edited by bookstar : 01-04-2005 at 11:36 PM. |

It all depends on the individual. I can eat lentils, beans, and brown rice before bed and not have any problems. Sugars are a bad idea. Usually a protein and fat meal right before bed is ideal for staving off catabolism during the 8 or so hour stint with no food. Id say keep them low or minimal, but it all depends on you.

So then should we maybe not eat before bed while on a fat loss prodram? I usually end my last meal at 8pm and I go to bed around 10:30 or 11pm.
Thanks. |

No. Eat before bed. Sleep is when your body isnt getting 3 hour feedings, so to combat this you need a slow burning source of proteins and fats. Remember for losing fat its bad to skip a meal.

Some lean meat and almonds or walnuts?

What this means is that when we drop a ball and it falls to the ground, it wasn't the ball that moved (down to the ground), but the ground that moved (up to the ball)

Cottage cheese is a better before bed source than lean meat in my opinion, it is a longer lasting protein source.
