Some people do fast because it helps promote exactly what he wants, I don´t believe in it though.![]()
How long does he intend to do that?

Now, this is not a bodybuilding diet by any means, but I just wanted to ask a few things about this diet. My stepdad recently started doing this to detoxify his organs, etc. I protested that you simply cannot live on drinking a drink three times a day thus consuming less than 300 calories per day.
What are your thoughts on the diet?

That is the only comment/action that 'diet' deserves.
This is nasty!!!
hmm, well a person can go 14 days on water alone before he/she dies.
in a case that your dad is almost killing himself to lose proves he is a desperate man. if he is desperate enough to almost kill himself, maybe he should be looking into a psychiatrist or a mental hospital
also, just for his sake, there are pills you can take, and detoxifying doesnt need to be an all at once process.
my neighbor doesnt eat,,, i think 2 days every 3 weeks to regularly detoxify his system.
its not like, oh its clean im done, its a commitable process, just as anything else in life that isnt material.
The only known adverse effects are the dizziness and nausea typical of any fasting regime, as mentioned above
that would be your body getting dizzy because it has nothing to run off of but what you already have, which by the way, the body eats muscle before it eats fats... which is definetly gross to think about...
Was this reccomended to him by his doctor?? If not, I think there are other healthier and safer ways that he could fine to detoxify his organs. But, since he has already started it, make sure that when he comes off of the fast he does it slow and doesn't add in food to quickly.
Actually there are many health benefits to doing small fasts every now and then. I would never advise it when you are trying to compete, lose bodyfat or gain LBM. But when you are on maintenance and want a good detox then IMO this is way the go. I've tried several detoxes but nothing works better than a 7 day fast. This past year I did it two (2) 7 day fasts. The first three days are HELLand I mean HELL but then the last 4 days aren't so bad. Don't be surprised what comes out of you though. It's not that pleasant to do but after the 7 days and you slowly increase your food intake you feel like a new person. I won't ever use a standard detox ever again. Yes you do become catabolic but it's only for 7 days and I barely lost any muscle and what I did lose I put it right back on.
I'm sure you are all surprised to to hear this from me and the first time I was surprised by myself but now I swear by it. I even lifted while doing it and I actually had alot of energy after the third day. After my competition I plan on doing another one.
This isn't something you would use to lose weight, NOT AT ALL because you are only asking for metabolic hell if you do. But for health benefits it's the way to go IMO.
