I hear ya on the first paragraph fo sho
I dont really care though, i try to get as much solid protein as possible. Still I average 2 skakes/day regardless
I know that the body really cant differentiate.. but I cant help but think that solid meals are better for you.
However, I recall that the BV of whey are much higher than that of red meat, chicken, etc.. Does that make shakes better?

solid meals are much better than whey. whey is only good right after a workout cuz it digests quick.
I need a better explanation than this. If I were to consume adequate carbs.. and adequate fats, would that not slow absorption? Plus like stated, the BV of whey is much better than solid foods. So I am getting more protein out of it..Originally Posted by squanto

I get 50% of my daily protein intake from powders. it obviously hasn't effected me in a negative manner...
the only real difference between protein powders and whole foods are the different amino acids profiles and that whole protein sources have a much higher thermogenic effect. whey protein(s) contain more vitamins and minerals than both beef and poultry.
I train differently than most, my beef is with gravity the weights on the bar are just the medium...Thanks to Wall Street your slice of the American Pie has been reduced to a crumb.
Thank you LAM!
By the thermogenic effect, you mean you will burn more calories when eating solid food? (this makes perfect sense.. don't know why I didn't think of it)
Is it really that beneficial to eat solid protein? Could one eat 70%+ of their protein requirements in the form of shakes? Sorry, these are all vague questions..
I had no idea you got so much of yours from shakes. Good to know.

yes...when you eat a whole food protein source like poultry or beef around 30% of those cals are oxidized in the digestion process.Originally Posted by PreMier
I'm sure you could get 70% of protein from shakes. I'm sure someone out there with a very small appetite is doing it or has done it. I have a small appetite myself which is why I use a lot of protein powders. I don't and won't force myself to eat more just for the sake of getting bigger.
