Hey, I need to implement some protein into my before and after workouts, and since protein shakes aren't really an option for me I was just curious if these would be an OK substitute. If not could someone suggest what to get, thanks!

if you're going to use a bar at least get a decent protein bar, those things are sugar loaded crap.

why can't you put your days supply of whey in a plastic baggy and use a shaker cup when it's time to mix it up ?

after workout you need more than whey and water
you need to add some complex carbs

Whey + carbs.

How about taking a banana and a carton of skim milk with you? Then fill the shaker with the milk and drink this while you eat your banana.

Alternatively, you could also add some oats to the whey powder as well and drink that when you mix in some water (got to love those lumpy shakes! ).

When I used to work away from home, a girl (we were friends)who sat close to my seck was hungry as heck on a day that I was away form the office and she had noticed that I had all sorts of plastic containers in my desk, so she snooped, hoping to find munchies...But stumbled onto dry oats, 2 flavours of protein powder and creatine!! Needless to say, she went to the cantine and bought something else!!

I always have a shaker or two, in my(huge) purse with a measure of pp ready to just be soaked by water!

Life is what you make of it, not what it makes you...TAKE CHARGE!

If I have a banana in the morning w/ my protein shake, and am looking for some complex carbs to eat quickly with my protein shake post workout, do you recommend eating two bananas per day?

I wouldn't really consider a banana a complex carb but if you are bulking then it should be fine. I'd try and vary things though and make sure you get plenty of complex carbs in your diet.

I think for PWO the banana will be better used and in the am and throughout the rest of the day go with oats, sweet potatoes, brown rice, and whole grains.

I eat a banana in my shake w/ oats, so I think I have that solved. I also eat only multi grain/wheat breads aswell as alot of brown rice.

How are sweet potatoes so much better for you than a regular baked potato? what do sweet potatoes taste like, i've never had one.

Regular potatos are not slow burning like sweet potatoes are. Higher on the gi, especially russett potatoes. If you HAVE to have white potatos stick with red bliss or new potatos.

Sweet potatoes are soo yummy with a little bit of cinnamon and splenda They taste like pie

another thing i like to do with my otmeal or protien shakes is to add fat free coffee creamer of choice into them.. just a little tho.. it gives it a little kick.
