You definitely need more than 2 grams a day. I eat 300.

BTW, I know you meant 2 g/lb of BW, not just 2 grams - I was just kidding.

I'd say any more than 2 g/lb of BW is putting undue stress on your kidneys. I usually keep it around 1.5. Besides, I've read the average person can only process 50 grams at a time. If I ate 2x my BW (420 grams) per day in 50 gram increments, that would be like eight meals a day, which is nearly impossible unless you eat for a living.

You don't need 2g of protein/pound.. No one does (well, unless you are juicing big time...).

1g to 1.5g per pound is really all you need, and even the higher range of those values are far in excess of what your body will actually USE for muscle anabolism... (people can grow successfully on about 0.8g per pound - as long as they train correctly and eat correctly/enough energy).

If you are trying to build lean tissue you would be far better off if you held your protein at about 1.5g and getting your fuel from far more useful sources such as carbohydrates and healthy fats....

I usually stick to around 1-1.5 grams of protein per lb of LBM.
