    sweet potato skin

first, i would like to say hi to everyone. this is the best weightlifting forum i have come upon.

with sweet potatoes, do i absolutely need to eat the skin?? i know that they are a good slow burning carb, but i really dislike the skin. i cant get down the texture. can i instead eat a large salad to get fiber into the meal?(instead of the fiber from the skin)

You don't absolutely need to, but you loose half the good stuff because, along with the fibre, lot of the vitamins and minerals are also in or just under the skin (vitamin A, Vit E, B vitamins, calcium, potassium etc...).

If you wash and scrub them well then the skin should be just like eating potato skin... Especially if you bake them or make 'jacket' sweet totos...

(ps: The large salad would be a good addition anyway ).

Thats so interesting. Everyone I asked about Sweet Potatoes said that the skin wasn't "supposed" to be eaten, whatever that means.

Well I want some good ones you'd recommend, and obviously cost will be taken into consideration when purchasing.

    Expensive
    Vibe
    MeaPlex
    TheraPlex
    CyberPlex

Took the Vibe once in the morning, and the others three times daily(9 total vits a day). I used to get them all discount from Ron Williams, but cant afford them for the time being..

I currently use Apex, because they were buy one, get one free..

I've always said to eat the skin. Most of the fiber and nutrients are in the skin. I just mash it right up with the potato into mashed sweet potatoes. Add in some cinnamon, splenda and a little sf maple syrup

Jacket tato = poke holes in the tato with a fork and put it in microwave on jacket potato setting (or, if you don't have that button, then cook as normal).

Then take out, cut into quarters and top with mushies, tomato, baby spinach leaves, tuna, cottage cheese and black pepper. Depending on how strict you are you can also add some avocado and some tomato pasta sauce.
