    Warning To Other 6 Meal A Day-ers

Keep a careful eye on your teeth, I had to go in today to get 3 of 7 fillings I have to get done, as a result of eating this often. (though i have put on some lean mass) Though, It also had a lot to do with the pop, and candy as a child, still, watch out!!!

    MAKE SURE TO FLOSS

(btw, i use a soniccare toothbrush twice a day, floss twice a day, use listerine in the morning, and a flouride rinse at night, so dont blame that)

Hmm. I've been eating 6 meals a day for about a year and a half and have never had any fillings. A lot of bb drink two of the six meals a day anyway, so that's only 4 chewable meals, not really anymore than a regular person.

The only way to get cavities is from sugar, how many grams do you eat a day?

very surprised if eating more often equals more cavities. More crap eaten, less brushing--that could be a problem.

i think it prob. has something to do with eating so often.

I never eat candy. I never drink soda. I brush my teeth minimum twice/day, and i have mad cavities.

My dentist supposeldy "filled them in" a few months ago, but the ones he "did" are hurting just as they did before.

ditto...I've been eating 5-6 meals a day for over 15 years and haven't had a cavity in over 20 years.

Well, I'm sure some people are more susceptible than others.

BTW Lam, have you ever competed? You look like you could definitely compete, but I've never heard you mention it.

Exactly. I dont think it has anything to do with the number of meals. It is the result of oral hygene as well as the certain foods higher in sugar.

I brush my teeth 3 times a day with sonicare and floss. But there are different types of enamel(some more succeptable to cavities than others) and Ive still gotten a few cavities. The same goes for my mom, maybe its a genetic thing.

and don't brush too hard because that wears away the enamel as does eating right before and after brushing.

I eat 8-9 times a day and get a ton of cavities. Brush twice, floss, rinse twice with Listerine, still mad cavities.

And sugar doesn't cause cavities, bacteria does. Sugar is just food for bacteria.

My dental hygenist told me that some people are more prone to cavities and those that aren't tend to have problems with gingivitis. She also told me I should floss more....crazy woman, what does she know?

This is the silliest thing I have ever heard. I know for a fact that since I started eating clean I have had less dental issues. Since I don't add anything to my food and it's low in sugar I have had several compliments from my dentist. I don't take care of my teeth any more than I did before but less the sugar, sodium and greasy foods I'm sure it's better for the teeth.

    EXACTLY!

I think it's just varies from person to person.

The hygenist (who i left alive) told me that her brother eats nothing but junk food, and for some reason, when she cleans his teeth, he has no plaque. On the other hand, when she and I get our teeth cleaned, even though we eat healthier as well as clean our teeth well, plaque somehow just builds up.
