I have 1 cup of cottage before bed everynite. Problem with the whey, is that it's fast abosorbed by your body and casein is not. Since you gonna spend at least 8h without food, it's makes more sense to have casein before bed time.

You bet it does. I'm well aware of the slow release casein benefits, but I just can't handle the taste

You could try a casein powder mixed with some healthy fats.

Also, depending on how strict you are/what your goals are, you could add some sugar-free yoghurt to some cottage cheese to make it more palatable. Some berries, cinnamon or stevia might also help.

Typically 0.5 cups has about 14g of protein.

I would swap your whey for something else. You are much better off with a slow digesting protein such as whole food (meats, whole eggs etc) or casein products (cottage cheese, dairy, casein powder). And, if you then add some healthy fats, you can slow digestion more, which will prolong the effects as well.

What about Muscle Milk? It has some fats in it, I have added some good muscle mass fairly fast by taking it. and what are casein products?

I don't like muscle milk.... There are much better powders out... but if you are happy with it and you are getting results then that is fine. It is still not the best thing to have before bed.

    what are casein products?
Things that have casein in them - and casein is a protein you find in molk. So you get it in cottage cheese, hard cheeses, yoghurt, milk etc as well as casein based powders.

You could make your own curds and whey like little Miss Muffet. With a sprinkle of Splenda or sugar and some Fiber One cottage cheese makes a good nighty night snack.

i've tried a couple diff. brands of Cott. Cheese and found that the Wal-mart brand is the best. It has a mild flavor unlike that Lite and Lively stuff...ugh...couldn't handle that.

What does that have to do with casein protein? Peanuts arent even a complete protein source, not to mention that most of the calories from the PB are fat.

What kind of crackers? Dont say ritz, or I will die laughing..

i used to agree that pineapple had too much sugar in it until i figured out that if i drain all the juice and rinse the chunks under some sink water.. it washes out most, but not all the sugar and tastes almost the same ( sure it wont taste as good since all the sugars gone, but its healthier)

I was thinking the exact thing the whole time I was reading down the thread. I just bought another big container of it at Sam's yesterday. I love the taste of it. I don't know what the problem is....we have to eat worse tasting stuff than cottage cheese.

there is still sugar in the pineapple, regardless of whether or not you rinsed out the juice or not.

Just eat the cottage cheese by itself.
