Whole grain breads are preferred over the bleached white crap.

Your best bread options are the sprouted grain breads. If that is unavailable then 100% stoneground whole wheat bread or whole grain. Not all whole wheat and whole grain breads are created equal. Most of them contain high fructose corn syrup sp you need to be careful picking out breads. That's why it's just easy to stick with sprouted grain breads.

    type of bread....

I'm not really sure if you are concerned about carbs/calories/starch etc...but I use a whole wheat bread made by Healthy Life, it has only 35 calories per slice, and only 8g of carbs, but yes, it does contain corn syrup, I only use bread once or twice a week, but it is the best I have found around here, hope I helped...BILLIE

I don't like bread for the reasons jodi stated (usually they have added crap in them), because of the GI/GL factor (usually high - so you get lots of carbs for little substance) but mainly because they are nutritionally void. Bread offers very little in terms of vitamins, minerals, protein, healthy fats, fibre, phytochemicals, water etc etc.. It is basically processed starch.

If you want a bread then you could try sprouted breads or wholegrain pumpernickel bread. Other whole-grain/intact kernel breads are also fine (those like pumpernickel only made with other grains).

After that dense grainy breads, sourdoughs and rye breads are better in terms of GI... But be careful about other added ingredients.

yeah, my local organic foods store carries both of those, but they can be expensive, plus they dont have much surface area (for big sandwiches) So i stick with the healthy regular stuff.
