    Increasing calories

I really need to get my cals up to 3000 for a bulk but right now Im eating 24-2500 a day. Will going straight up to 3000 do any harm? I have the metabolism for 3000 I just received some very bad information a while thus why I am only eating 2500.

Take it up a few steps at a time.. eg: add 200 cals each week or every 10 days or so for 3-4 weeks.

I increase them by 10% each week until weight gain occurs

10% from the original calorie mark, or is it modified along with the calorie increase?

10% from the previous week, but the best thing to do is to keep a log so this way you know how many cals over maintenace you need to gain weight starting from week 1. if your level of activity stays the same each bulk you should only need to go X cals over maintenance to gain weight

Im curious, is there a maintenance range? Like for instance could someone eat 3000cals, and not change in bodyweight bump that up to 3500cals and also not see a difference? How big can the gap get?

that is a good question. I have often thought about this as I usually give myself a range of about 300cals to work with no matter what (bulking or cutting). I do this because our energy level expenditures are not the same everyday. I don't always workout. I don't always train legs. Some days I work more. Some days less. Some days I sleep in causing me to miss a meal (is that bad being that I wake up later and expend less energy through out the day??). Some days I have more errands to run which requires more walking in the city for me. Some days I am lazy. So I leave that window or calories to work with and just make adjustments. Who the hell even knows if what I am doing is right though....lol.

Ummmm, your results speak for themselves bro.

as far as the maint. range thing goes i think that there is a certain range in which people will stay the same weight and i believe TP has is also a believer in that theory (i remember reading something by him over at Avantlabs that eluded to the fact that he can maintain within a pretty wide range of cals). I doubt there is really any research on the subject but maybe over the weekend i'll see if i can dig anything up.

That would be cool. I havent been watching cals for too long, but it seems I have a wide range. Have to eat a shit ton to gain weight, and im working on my first time trying to lose weight. We'll see where it all ends up.

yeah, i can stay the same weight using a range of cals anywhere from 3700-4200. Once I start pushing over that I start gaining weight.
